What IVF Success Rates Really Mean

Getting pregnant is much harder than one would think. Especially if the woman is over 30 years old.

There are too many physical conditions surrounding the uterus that one would almost think its next to possible to get pregnant. There are the following conditions: the polycystic ovaries syndrome, more popularly known as PCOS, hormones, the position of the uterus (transverted, intraverted and others) and others. These could directly affect fertilization and it makes it hard for a couple to conceive.

To get past those conditions, doctors would always advise couples to try medicines first to regulate the hormones, cure the pcos and even suggest different positions so the sperm would reach the egg. Even with all these, sometimes the couple is not successful. The doctor usually then recommends other methods such as the IVF or in vitro fertilization. IVF is an option when other methods of fertilization are not successful.

Know the IVF Success Rates when the doctor recommends this procedure. It is important to know the chances for success so you and your partner will know what to expect when it comes to the probability of getting pregnant. You have to watch out though because the term IVF success rate is different for everyone. It can mean one of two things: 1) the success rate of conceiving, and 2) the success rate of giving birth.

So check to see which criteria is appropriate for your situation. Although in many cases, either would make a childless couple happy!
